Suggestions for portable, EDC mouse still acceptable for gaming?

Just bought a ThinkPad Yoga 12.5" from the Lenovo outlet as a bit of a toy and something more portable than my Y500 so I can use it in my every day carry when I'm hustling around to get to class. What would you guys recommend for a mouse, wired or wireless, that has a small form-factor but is still going to give good performance if I want to crash in the library and play a game for an hour or two? I used to have a Razer Orochi but one of my mates knocked a handle onto the ground and then knocked the mouse to the ground reaching for a roll of paper towels to clean up his mess. No hard feelings, but the mouse is kaput. So what are your recs? If it's bluetooth that may be a plus, but I'm going to have it plugged in much of the time anyway to avoid that bluetooth device wake delay so bluetooth or wireless is far from mandatory.

I'd actually carry two mice, if you plan on gaming on the move. Otherwise ignore the second mouse.

For doing work, like class stuff or whatever, I'd grab something like the Logitech M510. I carry the M310, the last gen version, and the thing has never died on me, and feels good for using on the move or stuffing in the pocket. I freaking have batteries from 3 years ago in it and they are still hanging in there. The amount of care I've had for it is nearly zero, and it's got like... a scratch? Maybe? Stick the receiver in your laptop and leave it.

For gaming on the move, I'd grab something like the Logitech G402, as before, I don't carry it, but I carry the predecessor, the Logitech G5, but I do have a friend that carries it. It's a very solid mouse, does well in every situation, including CS:GO. It's a light mouse, but also very durable. I personally found it too light for 100% of my gaming, but I could deal with it.

I wish, man, but it just doesn't have the DPI for me. I'm gonna need at least like 3200. For comparison, I just set my mouse at 1000 and put my windows sensitivity to max and it's just not anywhere near speedy enough for my everyday use. Thank you for the suggestion though. Were it not for that I'd be all over that mouse.

I'll seriously consider the G402. However, do you, or does anyone, know of any other mobile gaming mice? Wireless, just for comparison's sake, would be interesting.

Zowie EC1 Evo I think it is, Logan is always going on about it. Small, cheap, good. It is mentioned in the latest video of his office tour.

I'm not a fan of wireless gaming mice, but if you must. Logitech G602? More MMO/MOBA feel of a mouse, but I guess it works. You have a really high DPi setting... not sure if that's normal but ok.

If you haven't noticed I'm a Logitech fanboy.

Well currently I use 3500 DPI and then windows sensitivity of 2 notches from max. I like being able to go across 2 monitors without moving my wrist at all, so it's all finger movement, when I'm doing productivity work, and then I drop it down a bit for gaming, but not a ton.

I settled on the G602. It's a bit larger than what I'd like and the DPI is a smidge too low, but it was $54 on Amazon so I jumped on it. If I don't like it (based on size and feel), that's a small enough investment that I can leave it at a workstation somewhere, be happy I tried the experiment, and give something else a try or go back to my Razer Orochi.

Thanks for the help though! If you hadn't recommended the G402 and M510 I wouldn't have spent so much time on the Logitech site and concluded that the G602 was worth checking the price.

Zibob, I looked at the Zowie lineup and I just couldn't justify the price. I'm sure they're incredibly well built, because that's the only way I think one could justify the pricing for how basic they are. Or perhaps there's a measurement of quality or performance that they excel on that I either don't know about or don't appreciate. For $80 though, I couldn't bring myself to commit to that device. I appreciate the suggestion though. When I saw Logan's desk tour video I didn't give it a second though, but your comment prompted me to do some more research on the product, which is always a good thing.

take a look for the monoprice one it was going for something like $30 and is the same mouse but with the monoprice name on.

Why not just get another orochi? I'm not sure how many wired/wireless mice there are in that form factor, I wished they'd update the orochi though.

Where did you find them at that price? Seems a bit high.

For the EC1-A, the price on their site is 65 Euro, which is like $72.50. The Amazon price for the EC1-A $79.41. Even if it was a $35 mouse I just don't find it incredibly appealing for this application, to be honest. When it comes time to replace the old DeathAdder I have at this rig then I'll look into it.

I agree about the Orochi. My problem with that mouse, however, was the quality of the Bluetooth experience. After a short period of non-use the mouse would enter a sleep mode of sorts, and once moved it would take about 2 seconds for the mouse to wake and be usable on the computer again. That was always annoying to me. On top of that, mine chewed through batteries like no device I've ever used before. I often ended up just leaving it physically tethered to my computer so I didn't have to deal with those issues, and if I wanted a wired mouse in that form factor I think I'd get either the Cooler Master Spawn or a Corsair M65, which are undoubtedly both higher build quality.

I agree about that form factor though. I'm a claw-grip user and I absolutely love the short mouse that falls off quickly at the back. It's a shame that there are so few offerings there. I think that most hard-core gamers tend to palm-grip the mouse so smaller claw-grip offerings are slim. Thankfully I have large hands, so I can easily claw-grip comfortably almost any mouse, but it would be really frustrating if I was so limited in my choices.
