Hi guys and gals, I know you probably get tired of newbies coming here and asking for help building pcs, but I would really appreciate it if you could help me.
I'm looking at a budget of around $700 USD, perhaps $800 if it's needed. I have some ideas for pieces and parts, but I'm not 100% sure the best possible choices for the money, as well as motherboard compatabilities.
So if any of you would find it fun to fit a rig like this together for me via partpicker or anything, I would be GREATLY appreciative of your knowledge.
Ps, I love you. :)
I'm also looking to get a solid monitor as well.
Does the $800 include or exclude tho monitor?
In a perfect world it would include the monitor, but if the performance difference is noteworthy then I suppose it should exclude it.
I assume it is for gaming? Could use a little more information. Like what kind of games. If you're looking for console replacement.
I'm sure Brennan is comfortable building a rig, but I want to have a go, too :)
Yeah, sorry guys. It would be mainly for gaming, able to max League, Dota 2, GTA 4, able to run newer games very well. I would mainly be programming and watching movies other than that.

I would really like to have a small ssd to put the OS on, it's always been a dream of mine to have a pc that starts up super quickly. But I can make due without it if it's for the greater good.

6300, 7870 XT, 1TB HDD, and 450W 80+ Gold PSU.
Now, first of all, that is a very nice PSU, and even only at 450W, will handle any reasonable OCs you could throw at it.
The 6300 is just a nice, solid CPU that handles most games out there perfectly fine.
The 7870 XT is a slightly weaker 7950, and for $210, is the best gaming and editing card out there for the price.
1TB HDD; nothing special. It's much better than the Barracuda. I have a 2TB SV35.5 in my rig partitioned with lots of different distros, and it works perfectly.
Cheap case is a cheap case.
The monitor is the cheapest 1080p IPS I could find. I haven't had any issues with Asus monitors, and for this price, resolution, and the fact it's an IPS, it's a "cheap," solid monitor.
I've gone over, but I have included a monitor. It can be made cheaper, but I would recommend investing a little more, just to tidy it up, add an SDD.

Cheaper? Better monitor?
That looks oddly similar...
I take from the best Brennan, but I've failed to make it cheap.
I left $50 of room for Windows, an after-market cooler, or even a better motherboard, depending on what he already has. It was the 212 Evo that put you over.
Our shared love of IPS is evident. I nearly went for a cheaper Hannespree. But, IPS...
Can't beat $125 for an IPS with 5ms response time.
I don't really like Windows 8 from what I've used of it. So I think I will opt for 7.
Is the ram or mobo particularly better in one of these builds? I'm assuming 1866>1600?
I'm still trying to learn about all of this stuff.
You'd be right. But, if 1600 is noticably cheaper, I'd get that. Since, 1866 doesn't contribute much to gaming performance. It makes a bigger contribution in editing programs. I don't know if that would be beneficial for your uses. You've certainly got a capable editing CPU, for some light work.
And I keep forgetting that most people prefer 7.
Ah, okay. Thanks bunches guys.
I've never run two separate HDDs, I'm assuming it's quite easy?
What size SSD would you suggest?
I also may try out Windows 8 after seeing the videos about adding a start bar and changing the startup screen.
