Hello Guys!
I have an old budget gaming setup few years ago. Apparently one day it started to create problems for me. For example, if I power on the computer, it will automatically turns off as if there is a power outtage. It will happen in a few seconds. Sometimes it will bootup to windows and will power off when I'm in the middle of gaming.
Here is the setup:
AMD 9950 BE
Asus M4N78
EVGA 9800GT
GEIL 800MHz Dual Kit Channel 2GBX2
CM 550W PSU
I've upgraded to a newer setup but still using the same PSU. No power outtage at all or any problems.
Since PSU wasn't the problem, I am not sure which is the faulty hardware. I don't have any spare parts to create a testbench. Is it possible for a CPU to cause this problem? Or is it the Mobo?
*Not sure which part of the forum I should put this in. Sorry!
and Thanks!

Look at the watt requirements for your old build in comparisson to your new one. It could be your new one is using less power (things are more efficient now).
But I ran it flawlessly before this happened. Lets assume PSU is enough. Is it still possible that the CPU is causing the problem? or the Mobo?
Yes possibly. It could be the EVGA too. Have you got up to date drivers?
Yeap. Everything was up to date back then. I used the comp for 1 and a half yrs I guess or more. I switched from a 9600gt to a 9800gt back then.
And how long after the switch did you start getting problems?
Now that you mention that, I think Ive gotten that problem right after switching to the 9800gt. Checked the PSU calculator. The 9800GT uses more power than the 9600GT and overshot the 550w limitation by a few digits. The 9950 too was a power hog! I will use my FX4100 to test run the 9600gt and 9800gt. And the use the 9950 with my HD7750 to test them all. Perhaps nothing was faulty. I will run some test on all the hardwares to check for stability!
