I buy parts all year round as i build computers ( office computers/web browseing computers and gameing computers for low income familys as thats my main buyers)
Parts drop and shoot up like commodity's but its safe to say december/january is a good time to get bargains on parts.

You think that a $500 system might drop to $450? Maybe sub $400?
You can stick with $400 if you want. However, $500 will be enough to secure a gaming system that you can upgrade. AM3+ is preferable to FM2. You can add better processors, more devices. During the holiday season, you're still going to end up with an FM2 system for $400.
