Currently purchacing parts, already have CPU - i52500k, GPU - 7870XT, and HDD - salvaged.

Reasons why : Going for something really small but with a lot of power. Just some insight on how small the Silverstone SG09 case is.... it's about 40% smaller than a Bitfenix Prodigy.

The part I'm stumped on is the motherboard, I'm thinking the AsRock Z77 Professional-M but I'm not sure if it's worth it or if there's something better for about the same price.

I think your Motherboard is pretty good, but here is another option whit good features as well

On a pretty tight budget, $150 tops for the motherboard.

If I had the money though that would be my choice hands down.
