“user-a” is the username
user-a who runs virt-manager is added to kvm, libvirt, libvirt-qemu groups.

I did the below

/etc/modprobe.d/vfio.conf
options vfio-pci ids=1002:6798,1002:aaa0
options kvm_intel nested=1
softdep radeon pre: vfio-pci
softdep amdgpu pre: vfio-pci
  1. shared memory set to the “user-a”
/etc/tmpfiles.d/10-looking-glass.conf

I’m running LG on Ubuntu Bionic so the setup experience should be similar to Debian. A few things to check:

  • Make sure you have the host executable running properly on the Windows guest.
  • I don’t see the log entry indicating that your shared memory device is opening (you should have a “KVMFR Device” line early in the log). Do you have apparmor enforcing on your Debian host? If you do, run:

dmesg | grep ‘apparmor=“DENIED”.*/dev/shm/look’

If you get any results, then apparmor is blocking QEMU from opening the shared device. If that’s the case, add the following to the bottom of /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/libvirt-qemu:

/dev/shm/looking-glass rw,

I have no idea what version this is, seems the package maintainer has decided to fudge the versioning… sigh…

Make sure you have the correct host program to suit, and please provide the logs from the host program.

Thank you very much!

Thanks. I did add looking-glass to apparmor.

Thank you. I have gnome and wayland. I wonder where the log be?

The windows host log, it will be in %TEMP%\looking-glass-host.txt

Wayland is not supported with LG at this time and may not work well.

Found it. I can’t post a link so please add dot com. Thanks.

It seems you still have the virtual video device attached to the guest VM. You must turn it off by setting the video device type to none in libvirt. You have to type in this value as it’s not an option in the list.

I did, I added it back just to access the log.
Let me run it again without virtual video device and try to get the log.

Understood.

Unfortunatly because the Debian maintainer has decided to provide his/her own version number I have no idea what build this is, and what version of the host program to match it with.

I have contacted the package maintainer to request they do not alter the version reported by the client to prevent this in the future.

It seems that the log overwritten every time the host program runs. I scheduled to run it again once in next the couple of minutes. I think I should be able to get the log up shortly.

It isn’t, it is appended to.

I dug out the version from the debian package, it’s B1 and you have the correct host version also, so that’s not it.

Are you per chance using SCREAM for audio in the guest?

new log. I have an AMD 280X.

No. I don’t think I set this up.
Thanks.

The only other thing that comes to mind is wayland, LG doesn’t support it well at all.

Thanks a lot.
