so my fx 6300 system is arriving, and I would like to share results with, and without the hotfix.
So: what programms can I, or should I use? I would also like to see the temperatures etc.

Well if you want to stress test it use Prime 95 and run it for like 12 hours to a day. If you wat to acurate temperature CPUID HW Monitor is a good program for that as well as CPUID CPU-Z.
and for how long should I let it run?
I won't overclock or anything else.
Well if your not overclocking there no reason to stress test.
I want to do it, so I can see the diffrence between the standard windows 7 and windows 7 with the hotfix.
I guess run it for 12 hours.
I use IntelBurnTest to stress my CPUs, but I don't know about AMD compatibilty. Prime95 is good, but IntelBurnTest is more stressful. Recently, however, I have been using Folding@Home to test my overclocks. When you set performance to "Full," it runs both CPU and GPU at 100%. Either way, run each program for longer than 12 hours to fully test stability.
ok, guys. So what would be the best way to test it? Only stress the cpu, or stress everything. What will show the diffrence of the hotfix the most? Or should I just mix it, because this can't get a straight answer?
Dumb question, but: Would it be an issue, to test it, and surf a bit? Would that fake the performance?
I..... dont know why you need to stress test it, to me the only reason to stress test is to make sure overclocks are stable, and you dont want to overclock as it seems.
Thats what I was saying but he wants to test the new fixes for the CPU. Also if you want to test the GPu you could use MSI kumbuster, that takes your graphics card for a spin.
prime95 is not a benchmark. it's for testing your hardware for issues and defects. when you get it, it's not a bad idea to run a prime95 blend test for a day or so.
use coretemp, and set the recording period to something reasonable.
yeah, sorry. I have never benchmarked anything. So what can I use to test my CPU?
on how well it does on tasks?
is pessmark PerformanceTest 7.0 64 bit good enough?
any cpu benchmarking tool will do the job that you want just look around. sandra has a free version that you can use. prime 95 is definatly for stability testing and max temp testing not performance testing.
Myself, Not a fan of Prime95 to stress test. I like occt. Occt also lets you run linpack. You wanna push your cpu thats the best one imho. Shows a really nice real time graphic.
ok, great guys. I'll do both.
