Hey guys just thought I would place this here
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/C7czrH
I got some extra money on a bonus check and talked the wife into putting an HTPC in the living room since we cut the cord about 6 months ago. Xbox hulu doesn't have the same material as the PC version and she wanted HBO now. So instead of hooking my macbook up everytime she wants to watch HBO I talked her into an HTPC.
SO I am going to re-purpose my 860k as a HTPC and build a gaming rig. The 860k does great for gaming but not gaming and streaming. I have seen people talk about Intel and all their glory. So I have to submit and bow my head to intel =) I feel like a traitor.
On the partpicker if its not on there I already have it or going to reuse parts that I have laying around. I will be dual booting windows and Linux on the system
The games I play are FPS/Strategy/3rd person games like Diablo 1 and 2. I might even get 3 but who knows. Been playing the crap out of BF4. Been doing Console gaming so much I almost forgot how to Keyboard game =) I know people are shaking their head in shame but its true. I looked like a monkey trying to play the first few times I played. My hands have been hurting as well. I need to build up those gaming muscles again.
I just want to know what you guys think of this build.
I was also wondering if you guys have any recommendations on a good HTPC case that would fit a 860k with asrock Extreme 6+ with r7 260k. I have a 212+ on it as we speak but if it wont fit in the case I will need a recommendation on low profile coolers. I will be not OCing it so I will bring it back down to factory. Also I will be changing out the ram. I have 16 gigs in the 860k and I bought 8 gigs for the Xeon build. I know I will have to run the 16 gigs at a lower speed because intel boards only support 1.5volts
//edit Also should I get a game capture card or unit also? something like the avermedia game capture card? or something like the Elgato thing?
