Yesterday a friend of mine linked me a kickstarter campaign, and i was complacently blown away by the trailer they produced. The game is a fast pace gore FPS inspired by the original doom/quake games and the whole 90's pc gaming vibe and pretends it is still 1996.
It's childish but I love how the word STRAFE keeps getting bigger and bigger as you scroll down the Kickstarter page. Looks like the kind of fun I would suck at but enjoy.
EDIT: And they are offering a POG set with one of the rewards. These guys know the 90's!
My friend we shouldn't worry, that campaigns usually get the rush of funding during the beginning and end of campaigns. Its also getting a fair amount of publicity, one of the game play videos is done by a well known lets player (I'm told), its a kickstarter staff pick, articles on polygon, and mentions by people like John Romero
New update, They have released a VR test build for the DK2. This build is intended to test the VR functionality and to get feedback from users experiences to help their development.
Yeah I forgot about the kickstarter phenomenon when large amounts get pledged at the very start and end.
I know it is a long way off but it looks like they have some form of playable game so hopefully it will come out regardless of kick starter, although I want to kickstarter to succeed, might just take a bit longer. I would love to own this.
*quivering lip* B.. B... But I don't want to be John Romero's bitch.
Latest update today they released pubicly the pre alpha build that they shared with some streamers. Its a stripped down version of what the game will be of just 1 level. Itll run on Windows or Mac and may not work on all hardware.
