STRAFE: "Bleeding edge graphics and gameplay", 1996©

Yesterday a friend of mine linked me a kickstarter campaign, and i was complacently blown away by the trailer they produced. The game is a fast pace gore FPS inspired by the original doom/quake games and the whole 90's pc gaming vibe and pretends it is still 1996.

They say that their game will be single player only and that there are no plans to make a it multiplayer. The levels will be auto-generated from large set of pre-designed rooms that will connect together randomly each play. rooms will have multiple points and ways to connect with others so that levels don't end up looking repetitive. They plan to release in early 2016.

I'm not usually one much for gore, but seeing the blood drip from the ceiling for some reason makes me really happy.

I guess I like my gore in 8-bit.

i like the idea about random levels

lol @ both kids being named Trevor.

It's childish but I love how  the word STRAFE keeps getting bigger and bigger as you scroll down the Kickstarter page. Looks like the kind of fun I would suck at but enjoy.

EDIT: And they are offering a POG set with one of the rewards. These guys know the 90's!

They have released some game play footage on their channel and another on another channel.

lmao their kickstarter video was a good laugh

That was fucking rad.

Sadly it does not look like the Kickstarter is going to take off. I wish this had more publicity, It looks really fun.

sadly, I think this may require an i7 and 16gb of ram for that level of photorealism :P

My friend we shouldn't worry, that campaigns usually get the rush of funding during the beginning and end of campaigns. Its also getting a fair amount of publicity, one of the game play videos is done by a well known lets player (I'm told), its a kickstarter staff pick, articles on polygon, and mentions by people like John Romero

New update, They have released a VR test build for the DK2. This build is intended to test the VR functionality and to get feedback from users experiences to help their development.

THE FUTURE IS HERE.

Yeah I forgot about the kickstarter phenomenon when large amounts get pledged at the very start and end.

I know it is a long way off but it looks like they have some form of playable game so hopefully it will come out regardless of kick starter, although I want to kickstarter to succeed, might just take a bit longer. I would love to own this.

*quivering lip* B.. B... But I don't want to be John Romero's bitch.

It just looks like a really well done quake mod. Im not a hater or anything, I just don't see anything new there besides the buckets of blood.

Free slammers with kickstarter backing pledge?

Latest update today they released pubicly the pre alpha build that they shared with some streamers. Its a stripped down version of what the game will be of just 1 level. Itll run on Windows or Mac and may not work on all hardware.

Yeah I saw, hope fully this will kick the kickstarter over.

They only need $23K in 45 hours. Hopefully they can pull it off.

I hope so too, looks like its going to be very close.

Strafe funding projection cone

Looks like it is going to make it. *cheering heard in distance as neighbouring town hear the good news*
