Wendell mentioned the black-screen flashing when using sub-par DP cables. Guess what I get with the two “Stouchi DisplayPort Kabel 2.1 10M DP2.1/2.0 Kabel [16K@60Hz,10K@60Hz, 8K@120Hz,4K@240Hz 165Hz 144Hz] Unterstützt 80Gbps HDR DSC1.2a FreeSync G-Sync Display Port 2.1 Kabel für Gaming Monitor” that I got to drive my 2x4k60 U3223QEs from my PC in the other room? Regular once-a-minute blackouts on one of the screens. Sometimes resetting the connection by reseating the cable clears it up for that session.
Clearly going for the expensive option on Amazon was not enough. Any suggestions how to improve the situation?
It starts right when I boot up the computer cold. Though recently it had almost 30C (86F) in the room where it stands, and I think it was worse.
re external interference: I’ve also got an active USB3 extension in the same cable run. I can try the foil both on the connectors and on the usb3 repeater.
Thanks for looking into this. Yes that’s correct, those are 10m passive cables. I was hoping that the 8k super cable (lé sigh) would have enough headroom for this to work.
It would be less frustrating if it didn’t work sometimes.
Adding aluminum foil to the connectors and the USB3 repeater in the same cable run didn’t significantly improve the situation.
I’ve now splurged for https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0D1DYJQ8G (“huaham Glasfaser DisplayPort 2.1 Kabel (10M), DP 2.1 Kabel [8K@60Hz, 4K@240Hz 165Hz 144Hz] 40Gbps Video DisplayPort Kabel unterstützt HDCP DSC 1.2a, HDR10 FreeSync G-Sync für 3090 Grafik-PC”, which are actually cheaper than the Stouchi cables by a few EUR) and they have not yet exhibited the previous issues within the first couple of minutes.
Reporting back after a week of use: the optical cables have significantly improved the situation, but not completely fixed it. One of the monitors still disconnects once or twice a day, down from every few minutes.
