I am looking for more story driven games. I have been on a kick lately. Anything from Dragon Age: Inquisition and Witcher 3, to Pillars of Eternity, to Metro Last Light (finally got around to starting this game again, the last time that I tried, the drivers were giving me issues so I put it on hold). Anyway, someone please suggest some great story driven games. I don't really want an interactive movie, but something with really engrossing plot is really what I am looking for.
If you haven't played Spec Ops: The Line then I recommend that.
Shandowrun Returns, and Wasteland 2 if you like Pillers of Eternity
Oldies but goodies: Clive Barker's Undying and Planescape: Torment.
Telltale? Pretty much like watching and playing a TV show.
Fallout,WoW have good storyline and you would enjoy playing these games.I like playing World of warcraft very much,as it has amazing story and character and graphics.I have collected many series of World of Warcraft and soon I will acheter world of warcraft to enjoy my favourite game.
I have to suggest Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines if you don't mind dated graphics and having to do some tweaking before you're able to play. It is very well worth the effort and time.
Must have patch.
Edit: also Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 (recently got an update on Steam as well).
Crysis series, half life series, fear series, need for speed series, amnesia dark descent.
The Elder Scrolls - Morrowind has an amazing story, and lots of mods that make the game more enjoyable both visually and functionally. There are also expansions, and yes, they are amazing. Oblivion was more or less revolutionary at the time (although, it has not aged as well as Morrowind, IMHO). The story is good and the Shivering Isles makes the game a lot more fun. I haven't played Skyrim yet.
Fallout - F1 and 2 are awesome. I haven't finished F3 but it was fun (with DLCs). Most of my friends say New Vegas was a very different experience ("better", but it's a matter of taste) in terms of story line because Obsidian did it their way. I haven't played it yet.
Forgotten Realms - A D&D setting that served as a base for some of the best written fantasy RPGs ever. Some are linear (Icewind Dale), other with branching storylines (Baldur's Gate), but all story driven (Planescape is basically a book with sprites).
(Un)fortunately, D&D rules changed over time so new games got more complex, and more fun, but you had to at least look up the new rules for every new edition (e.g. in Icewind Dale 1, you want smaller numbers in "armor class", while in IWD2 bigger numbers are better). Apart from the isometrics, there's Neverwinter Nights with expansions (and over 9000 classes to choose from)
Made by what used to be Black Isle and interplay (now Obsidian, mostly), and Bioware... basically legends of the trade.
If you are a fan of South Park, I recommend The Stick of Truth.
As far as shooters go, Half-life has always been my number one choice (the story and the mechanics of the game merge beautifully).
Halo: CE was awesome, too.
I also started playing STALKER for the story, loved the ballistics, and stayed for the horror and everything that the zone could throw at me. Although, for me, it was more ambient- than story-driven. And the mods are great.
There are also "smaller" games, mostly indies, that are kind of story driven: The Banner Saga, Antichamber, Stanley Parable...
