Storgage Spaces deleted after 1 damaged disc drive . how to recover data on other drive of mirror (showing non allocated space in disc management)

yesterday 1 drive of my mirror Group in Storage Spaces in windows 10 was damaged. So I disconnected both drives , the damaged one and the good one. After that I deleted the group in the Storage Spaces. But now when I connect again the good working drive , it mentions in disc management ‘non allocated space’. What can I do to see back the data on the good working drive ? So I want to have the good working drive again normally. So to resume :

  • yesterday I disconnected both drives of a mirror in Storage Spaces in Windows 10, because of a damaged drive.

  • after that I deleted the group in the Storage Spaces.

  • than I connected again the good working drive of the mirror.

  • but now I see in disc management : “non allocated space” for the good working drive. I cannot see a drive letter.

What I want is the good working drive to work normally again. Can I use a tool to do this ? of Microsoft ? There is important data (old photos) on the good working drive, so it’s important for me to have him working again. For safety I disconnected both drives for the moment until I find a solution for this.

I hope you have a backup.

By deleting the group in Windows you might have made it worse for you. Afaik this will delete all raid info, which is why windows doesn’t recognize the drives anymore.

If you have restore points active I would suggest restoring your pc to a point before you deleted the group. Connect both drives again and windows should report the good one and the bad one. Then replace the bad drive and let windows sync them again.

After that I deleted the group in the Storage Spaces
This was likely screwed you over.

If the restore point thing crosstiger suggested doesn’t work, and you don’t have backups, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Perhaps Klennet Recovery could work. You’ll want to install it on a different windows 10+ install.

Wait, you deleted the group while both drives were disconnected? How is that even possible? Without the drives connected, the space shouldn’t have been visible at all.
