Storage options out the wazoo

Hi all,

I'm trying to finish my build and I'm stuck at a very vital part. I don't know what to do about my storage option. Prior to this I was just running an sshd in my laptop but now moving to a desktop I have plenty more options but I don;t know what route to go. I want to install an ssd for my os and programs and then store my games, music, movies, etc on a fast and large hdd. I've heard you mention using ssd's for caching but I'd like to know a little more about it before I fork out the cash.

Thanks again,

-Nate

Just get a 1TB 840EVO and forget about hard disks.

budget please.

SSDs can be used for caching, but only on Intel systems as far as I know.

I would pick up a 120-256GB SSD(Kingston HyperX, Samson 840 Evo), and then a 1TB Western Digital Blue or Black.

not enough money for a 1tb ssd but ssd and hdd sounds good, thanks all!

there's also a 2TB Seagate Hybrid SSHD for about $20 more than a 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black... if you really want/need fast storage... but yes, a 120GB SSD and 1TB Caviar Blue is the general recommendation until you get to really high end PCs

as far as i know, don't hybrid drives have a really high failure rate?

i would avoid seagate, and pick up a hitachi drive.
