Stop me from buying Bowers & Wilkins MM-1!

Convince me not to buy the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1. I can get them for $425 (USD).

USE:

  • These will be my main computer speakers. Not for parties. Will only use them when at my desk.
  • I listen to an eclectic mix of music, from classical music to old school house to indie rock.
  • I rarely game.
  • I'm not into booming loose bass, i prefer it tight.
  • Will probably hook these up to my MacBookPro mostly, but might use other laptops.

Are there any alternatives that I should consider? I was thinking of the Audioengine A5+, but I can't get these locally.

Should I just get a moderately priced (i.e. cheaper) small HiFi system from Yamaha or Sony and plug my computer to in instead? Thoughts?

go with active studio reference monitors, Yamaha and JBL are both good.

thanks... i'll check them out.

I you are going to buy B&W speakers get loud spearkers not computer speakers, They have some decent bookshelfs. Personally, I think they sound too mushy .

Always remember to audition speakers before you buy, sound is subjective.

IMO, B&W never made a bad driver/system. No way I can talk ya out of it ;)
