Stock FX-8350 fan too loud

Once the fan gets to 4000+ RPMs the noise is just too much for me. Is it easy installing aftermarket coolers? And what are some of the quieter ones out there? I am not looking to OC I just want the noise level to be bearable when the CPU is under load. Thanks :)

coolermaster tx 3 is cheap and easy if you dont want to overclock

You can get some coolers with the same fixing bracket as the stock cooler...

Stock CPU fans as a rule are not the best noise wise. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to get a far superior cooler both for heat dissipation and noise levels. There are many people here on this form that says the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo is the end all. I cannot say as I have 2 different coolers but both are Cooler Master. I have the V6 for my I5 build and the N520 for my FX-6300 build. They both perform excellent and are very quiet. Here is a list of CPU coolers listed from best recommended. I have included all brands as to show this is not a fan boy explanation of what would be best for your application.

I need a cooler that is compatible with Socket AM3+ (942)

On the page I sent you find something that catches your interest and click on it. Then go to the section called “details”. This will show you what it is compatible with socket wise. Most aftermarket coolers today are compatible with the AM3+ socket.  This section will also explain the dbl level the unit puts out as well as the cfm. Here is just an example of one I just happened to check.

If you want a quiet cpu cooler, then you could buy any cooler that your budget allows and replace the stock fans with some Noctua NF-F12's.

You can get a 212 for a good price and it will cool your 8350 just fine at stock clocks.

I have an 8350 as well and I have to say that this thing is running WAY too hot with the stock cooler. It idles at 35c and I have seen it push past 65c in games/rendering.

Will the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo fit in a Corsair Carbide 300R case?

It should

I need to know for sure. I hate buying components and then they don't fit. Causes sad face syndrome.

Well just look at the dimension of the 212 and look at how much room you have in your case.

The 212 is a smaller cooler, so I don't see why it wouldn't fit.

the 212 coolers will fit in almost any case, it doesn't stick out much beyond the gpu. the only time I would worry about it is if you have an ITX buld, but you should be liquid cooling anyways if that's the case.

Hey all,

I had the same problem. My motherboard is an ASUS M5A97. Turns out, the default BIOS setting wasn't really compatible with the AMD FX-8350.

I simply downloaded the latest BIOS file for my motherboard from the ASUS website and ran the Asus Update utility and updated my BIOS from file. After that my CPU is now running cooler and the stock fan is quiet as can be.

Hope this helps!

well i use the stock amd cooler and indeed its load has hell, wenn the cpu gets arround 50 degrees. ☺ but still the cooling performance is not that bad. but im also gonne replace it, because its annoying me. if you not gonne OC the coolermaster hyper 212 evo would be a good choice.

If the evo fits get it. It is phenominal for what it is really. but they are better more expensive things out there

i just saw that this a very old bumped up thread.

so i wil lock it.
