Hey so I saw an Alienware $400 pc at Walmart and almost bought it. It was an M100 1580 I think. I was wondering if it's possible to build a better pc for less including a wired or wireless xbox 360 controller?
This is purely for gaming.
Can you guys make a better build under 500 and use a Silverstone raven itx case(any of them work) ?
Honestly I don't think so. They get some major discounts when it comes to those boxes and the biggest one is Windows. If you wanna put Windows on a custom build That's 25% of your budget right there
What was the hardware?
I3 4gb ram (I have 8) and an 860m 2gb I think
There's your problem
but really it'd be hard to match a sale price or something like that, is that also a mobile i3 though? I'd imagine it would be, meaning you could match it probably with an Athlon 845

I don't care about max settings just playing any game until I can build a zen system
Well AMD is about to announce their new shit, probably including AM4 APUs, which should be pretty good with DDR4 memory now, and then all you have to do is pop in a new chip when zen launches

Ya I think you can build a pc on par or better than the alienware, with second hand parts definitely. However its the first thing I have seen from them that I like, it beats out making your own for size and portability. I saw some videos on it that seem to play most games on med pretty well on the i3. Who knows how long it will be able to do so however.
I will never get one, rather build a mini itx (which will cost more but be more powerful) but as steam boxes go, I like it.
I like that case, but this would be the dream case (also it will challenging)
I want this so bad.....
Not to go OT - > But I'd like to see TS get their hands on that case for a build. I'm sure Wendell could find something cool to do with it. I would just use it for a low power AMD apu HTPC gaming box like this thread is about.
