Steam Validation Rejected

I'm not huge on gaming, but I love a good binge of day of defeat or cs 1.6. I've recently realized I can play it on my ubuntu 12.10 system, but can't figure out why I'm getting booted.

I've done some google searching, and have come up with deleting steam cache to temporarily solve the problem. However, after 15 minutes or so, Changing servers or maps, I get a "could not connect" error, usually attributed once again to "steam validation rejected".

My connection is sprint 4g tethering; could that be the culprit? I don't get it...

Also, TF2 will not play smooth even in offline mode. GPU- hd 6750. Feels badman.

edit: After 'SVR' error, I delete cache, & get another 15 minutes access to dod.

maybe your 4g is disconnecting causing your ip to change and steam might view that as an attacker. try from a more reliable connection.

Sounds like an intermitent connection issue. Mobile Internet isn't exactly great at the best of times and it is highly possible that your ping times could be getting you booted or timed out.

However TF2 not running smoothly? What CPU are you using?

fx 6300. I've also tried using an hd 4850 gpu which did the same thing, but only with tf2

I didn't think of that. Yes, i know. My only options for internet are companies I refuse to support.
