Steam machine build

Hi guys, I've built PC's for years and gamed here and there on them, with the announcement of the Steam OS I thought I can really get a "console experience" from a PC. I already have a good idea on the hardware I want going in and have already purchased an Asus maximus VI Impact.

Here I'm really going for high power components but I want the form factor of a console which is where I have problems, I need an ITX case which is close to console dimensions allows for at least a slot loading drive bay, accomodates one High end GPU and accepts an ATX PSU, so if you guys could throw some suggestions my way that would be cool, I'm just trying to create a living room friendly machine which will be used with a controller, thats the mission.

look forward to your input. :)

fractal design node 605

This is a cool case, any idea if they have plans to shrink a version of this to accommodate only ITX boards? I know of the node 304 but that lacks any optical media expansion and I will still need a disc drive, thanks for the recommendation though, this case is currently sold out in most webshops here in The Netherlands.

Have a look at the lian-li case's on there web site ---> http://www.lian-li.com/en/

After looking around on the web quite a bit it seems that there is no suitable chassis for this project, the alienware X51 has the kind of layout needed to have a console like computer, it's comparable to FAT PS3 and XB360 but its very cramped and there's no room for top tier GPU's and the PSU is definitely proprietary, if the design was beefed up a bit with focus on some airflow and accommodating the strongest GPU's it would be a good option...still I would worry about heat issues, I think maybe I might go for a Bitfenix Phenom or the Prodigy, much bigger footprint then what I'm after but the airflow is there, after all I'm going for top tier hardware, it needs to breathe. might dive into water-cooling for the first time...who knows or maybe just get a closed loop cooler again like my last build. decisions decisions....
