Steam Lag?

Am getting full pc lag when am installing games on steam can anyone tell me how to fix
I know I could just wait but still XD

are you using an ssd

My OS is on SSD but I have an HDD where I install steam games

Would moving the base install of steam over to the HDD help

Well it may be he simple case your HDD is a bit slow?

Moving you games onto a SSD could help, is it lag or just slow loading of games?

Am not trying to play a game or anything when am playing I never get lag am installing like 10 games on steam and its making my computer lag . mouse jump, slow browsers etc.

I would probably just wait for install to complete then, its obviously just stressing your system if your installing so much and using a lot of bandwidth

idk I got 50mb according to my internet speed test and my computer is anything but weak

I use to install am play games and use browsers b4 I upgraded so this is just really weird

It just that the install area is on my E drive while my OS is on C so I don't understand why it lags

i kinda just wanna know why cause to me it makes no sense don't really need a fix

It's just hdd lag, it's being overloaded and anything you try to access from the hdd has to be added to a "queue" behind the stuff being written. While your OS and steam install aren't on the hdd, it can have some effect as the bandwidth on the controller may be bogged up.

ahh i see

Mind you, it won't be an issue once the install or load on hdd is gone, just wait it out. Have a coffee or take a dump.

If it continues to annoy you grab a second ssd.

k

and thanks

I had this issue with steam as well. It turned out my optical drive was too old and causing issues with the i/o performance to my HDD. It took me forever to figure that out...

If its just steam, it may just be a slow HDD as steam just kinda goes all out on storge media. If its kinda random, there are various windows fixes to help with the problem that you can find with a quick search.
