So the otherday i decided to upgrade to an SSD and clean installed everything. So when i launch steam and downloaded all my games the first time and redirected it to my HDD it did. but now every time i open steam i have to go into the settings and add what folder theyre in. Every time i launch steam i have to do it.
If Steam thinks they're in another location, go into your library, right click on the game, and select delete local content. Then "install" the game, selecting the folder where you moved it to.
It should find the files, and you won't have to keep doing that.
Yu as above I have steam on the C:/ Drive and my games on the D:/ Drive. No reinstalling of games when i bought my SSD I just installed steam and when it loaded up I told it the games where on the D:/ Drive, it took that fine and is fine now after reinstalling the random directX and .Net additions that games need.
The only other thing to do is to tell steam that its default install directory is the other drive and not the C:/ Drive. Now it will load Steam from the SSD and load/install the games to where every you have them.
I just moved the steam file onto the HDD along with putting the steam apps folder in the correct place in the new steam file, then just deleted it off the SDD and it works fine now.
Good glad you got it worked out.
Just remember to tell it to install to that other location too, other wise it will install new games on to your SSD where steam is installed.
