So to start with. Yay for me since I have managed to pick up a used 1080 for a very good price meaning I now have 2x rigs in my home running a 1080.
Ive been so pissed off having my settings for the same game need setting every time i open the game up on the other computer and vica versa. Steam should know you have 2 rigs, one better than the other and save the settings per machine so that’s not an issue but anyway.
From one first world problem to another. If a friend comes around and logs into steam as himself on one of my rigs and we want to duo on pubg say would I need to install a second copy of the game in his account or will steam recognise the game is installed and just let him open it up and start playing?
Looking forward to having 2 player the way its meant to be played!
I could be clearer sorry guys. I mean like I own the game and already have it installed on both machines in my home but I can only play on one of them at a time if were talking about the same game on both machines.
if a friend who also owns the game logs in on one of my rigs can he just play or will the game need to be downloaded again for him
In theory it should be login and play. Steam should recognise that the game is already installed (either via windows registry or just the locations in steam).
It worked quite some time back when my gf was still using my PC to game every once in a while (shared library, so I technically installed a few of her games back then).
It actually should do that too. Might depend on the game though, not sure. Probably a thing with the steam SDK.
No you don’t need to re-download the game again, if he logs in and owns the game then you can start immediately. Though settings are stored locally afaik for PUBG.
