Looking for some insight to recommended graphics cards for host and guest. I currently have a Vega and last I heard they had issues reinitializing after shutdown when used for the guest.
Also are there still issues with Threadripper systems?
Yes to Threadripper, Yes to Vega last I heard.
If you need a reliable USB controller, the Renesas uPD720202 will not fail you.

AMD cards are either 100% issue free or have 1 of 2 kinds of reset bug, nvidia cards will always give you bullshit to some extent unless you spring for the quadro

to answer your question, there are both client and guest side fixes for both types of reinit bug, and apparently kernel fixes in the newer kernels.
