Anyone have any experience with Starwind’s vSan in the enterprise? What was the stability like and would you use it again? Migrating away from VMWare
Their stuff is fine and reliable. They have a free option for evaluation, but they ended up not meeting my works needs and we ended up going with another vendor. Mainly due to the fact our ISO runs a strict IRM process and it failed to meet some different regulatory hurdles. From what I could tell their stuff is fine for most business environments.
Thanks for your input.
The reason is, I have a client that is running a 2 node KMV environment but I can’t convince them to get a third node for a dedicated shared storage between the two nodes. Trying to get some clustering going on and looking for virtual san alternatives so if you have some vendor recommendation I am all ears.
I assume you mean KVM(Kernel-based Virtual Machine). For those we just linked in an SMB share from Unraid and backing them up via Proxmox. Not entirely sure what your storage needs are and budget. But you could purchase a S3 from someone like amazon or Linode/Akami and it should meet your needs.
