Startup problems

Hey 

my pc has been assembled and all is well but everytime i plug in a monitor it wont detect anything ive tried 3 monitors and doubt it would be anything else apart from a power supply that might be underkill.ill list the specs incase it helps.

althon x4 760k 

msi 660 

an old seagate barracuda (although i doubt its the problem as it wont post anyway???

i was wondering if i need to have the driver cd in or something?? im not sure ive tried everything i can think f and getting really frustrated

Can you clarify . . . . "it won't detect anything" ? Also what motherboard are you using, if the motherboard has on board graphics i could be defaulting to that instead of you graphics card. Another option is that there is a problem with your graphics card, check it's seated properly and has all the power connectors attached correctly. Finally if you have a spare graphics card (anything will do) swap out the 660 and see if that works.

the cpu and the motherboard do not have onboard graphics. but i added a old graphics card i owned and it still didnt work i tried all other monitors i owned so im clueless

I hope you're plugging in the monitor to the GPU outputs, not the motherboard outputs.

Sounds like the system is failing to POST. Check your RAM and motherboard cables are seated correct. Are the case fans / cpu fans spinning when you turn the system on? If still no luck i would suggest taking the motherboard out of the case placing it on a non conductive surface (the box it came in is good choice) and see if you can fire it up outside of the case (this will tell it there is a short between the MB and the case)
