my pc has been assembled and all is well but everytime i plug in a monitor it wont detect anything ive tried 3 monitors and doubt it would be anything else apart from a power supply that might be underkill.ill list the specs incase it helps.
althon x4 760k
msi 660
an old seagate barracuda (although i doubt its the problem as it wont post anyway???
i was wondering if i need to have the driver cd in or something?? im not sure ive tried everything i can think f and getting really frustrated
Can you clarify . . . . "it won't detect anything" ? Also what motherboard are you using, if the motherboard has on board graphics i could be defaulting to that instead of you graphics card. Another option is that there is a problem with your graphics card, check it's seated properly and has all the power connectors attached correctly. Finally if you have a spare graphics card (anything will do) swap out the 660 and see if that works.
the cpu and the motherboard do not have onboard graphics. but i added a old graphics card i owned and it still didnt work i tried all other monitors i owned so im clueless
Sounds like the system is failing to POST. Check your RAM and motherboard cables are seated correct. Are the case fans / cpu fans spinning when you turn the system on? If still no luck i would suggest taking the motherboard out of the case placing it on a non conductive surface (the box it came in is good choice) and see if you can fire it up outside of the case (this will tell it there is a short between the MB and the case)
