A pat on the head and standing next to each other brushing teeth.

… so, hardcore gay porn basically.

I like how the enlightened star fleet are happy to plug in and hurt a puppy until it proven sentient.

Yeah, they really are telling stories that star trek has told since TOS. And they are not even doing it any better. I am currently on that 30 days free netflix and I am gonna watch the shit out of it. I already bookmarked a ton of stuff that I’m gonna binge but star trek is really not high on that list.

It is so annoying that literally everything has to be dramatic and everything has to be said in a lower tone and be impressive and … it feels soooo fake.

Yarrr matey.

I am only on episode 3 and I am like is that a giant water bear?

Yes, they are not really doing anything new are they? I’m really perplexed with all the complaining that it somehow isn’t Star Trek. It sure looks and feels very much like Star Trek to me. Is it good Star Trek? Might be, we’ll see when they are a couple of seasons in. TNG didn’t really grow on me until I’d seen a couple of seasons. DS9 got me hooked pretty much first season though. VOY, weell I have watched most of it, and well… not terrible? But not that great either. This new one might very well be better than VOY. I remember that I liked ENT when it aired, but I’m not sure a re-watch would be as good. Still remember the opening theme of ENT, that was a blast, lol.

There is a lot of people feeling that way. I don’t.

Just briefly: TNG is home for me, DS9 was ok, VOY had the best premise of any ST series but they managed to drag it down to soap opera / sitcom level half of the time. I wasn’t interested in enterprise at all.

Two of the things that come into play for me for disliking discovery: I don’t think I was ever interested in a prequel … ever. And secondly I hate those new klingons. They have no recognizable facial expression because of these stupid masks. They look like things, not like people. And by the way, why do I have to read subtitles when they talk?

Episode 6 was good, captain Lorca is a cold SOB, I like him.

Sigh. I got late to the seventh episode. I thought, how bad could it be?
I knew something in the future was gonna go down poorly the first time I saw the character Mudd. But not like this.

Adele: What’s your name?
Prendergast: My name is mud.
Adele: Nuh-uh!
Prendergast: Yes it is.
Adele: Your name is not mud!
Prendergast: Well, it will be. Once this episode wasted on a time loop has aired.

I’d start on how bad that episode was, but I don’t want to write book right now.

…the previous episode (search for her father) installed a false sense of hope.

The hardest thing for me about the new star trek was the Klingons not having heavy metal haircuts but what I’ve been doing is watching The Orville and StarTrek Discovery back to back, the two different takes on the startrek universe balance each other out for me.

The Orville is still pumping out enjoyable episodes.

The last ST:D episode was… almost okay. It had a decent plot, but the execution was not so great. IDK, still hoping.

Three episodes since the break… still complete trash, even more than before. It is drifting into B-movie territory, and I mean the bad kind of B-movie. A dozen episodes and I still don’t give a single fuck about any of those characters.

I honestly am enjoying the shit out of Orville. Actually I find it already better than most of Star Trek because it isn’t up its own ass with moral pontificating.

Seen some bits from Star Trek Discovery and all I can think is “they cancelled Axanar…for this?!”

I’m not sure what fuckwit made that decision but…fuck them.

yeah, at first i didn’t watch Orville because the short clips i’ve seen in advertisements didn’t seem that funny, and i’m not a big fan of Seth Macfarlane as an actor. But after 2 friends recommended it; i gave it a try and it is not bad. You can tell there is a lot of love for Star Trek from the writers. I also like how like, there isn’t the same hangups as there is in Star Trek, while it is still very much the spirit of Star Trek, far more so than the newest Star Trek. It kind of showed me how stuck in the mud Star Trek is in a lot of ways.

I honestly am enjoying it. It is a different direction, and same with Star Wars if you want to continue the stories from the original you sometimes have to take it into another direction. I never was a fan of the original star trek, but the next generation besides discovery was the only series I have enjoyed. Star Trek Discovery is a different direction. For me that doesn’t mean it is bad.

Well Star wars is ruined and Star Trek as well…At least the universe is balanced.

So, season one is over… thank god!

The last episode was a pure cringe-fest and of course there is barely any normal dialogue because everything is a speech and epic and deep and shit like that…
