In commemoration of my acceptance into the Star Citizen Tek Syndicate Org. I started this thread to show what I'm bringing to the table and see what other backers have.
If you are a backer post your Star Citizen handle and any ships you have and I'll add your info to the list.
The game is only going to be US$60. All the ship prices you see on the site now are pledge rewards and will be acquirable in game. In fact if all you want to play is the single player it costs US$45.
I've been playing around in the arena doing pvp and the mini-PU (Persistent Universe) which is a single Jovian planetary system and they have some multi-crew ships that are playable now. Again it is still alpha but it is fun nonetheless.
I wouldn't say years. Squadron 42, which is the single player campaign could be released as early as December. They have been working on this game since 2012 and they don't have a publisher breathing down their necks and mucking up the process.
Yea, I remember when it was "launched".... I'm glad I held off. I've grown up in the time they've spent developing it and have very little time/interest to play games these days.
It took bethesda 5 years to make Fallout 4, this is much larger, and has complex objects that weve never seen before on a game. its only been 3.5 years since it first began development... if gamers have learned anything is that rushing development or a product has very negative effects
sq 42 will release this year with 4-8 hrs worth of gameplay. that already is worth the starter price ship i bought. if you were to compare it to a $130 title like call of duty... we all know that just a refresh
its really early to start a group until the game is close to releasing. if you follow the groups on the actual SC site. they fall apart after a few months or go silent. this is a great idea, but i would just stick to just asking people to game/ partner up for now. ive been apart of three groups that are now dead silent for months
Unless you really, really want to back a games development. I agree otherwise, I'll never pre-order a game or purchace a 'season pass' from Ubisoft, EA, WB, et al
so your saying you wouldn't help kickstart silent hill 4 if Hideo Kojima was trying to start it? :P
in all seriousness hes already a well recognized developer, im willing to throw money at something as cool of an idea as this. i was one of the original kickstarter funders. if anyone is tired of waiting.... its me, just be patient is all im saying
No... These days I don't even back games I think would be awesome.
I've "thrown money" at games and they rarely finish and deliver a product. Now, I'm resolved to simply wait for them to finish before giving away any of my hard-earned money.
thats your choice, but if everyone had that attitude toward smaller studios like this was it would have never gotten to this point. SC is actually very playable.
i would say if you are currently looking for a multiplayer area style game in space, SC is it. a solo game is right around the corner
i do agree with you with large companies however ubisoft etc.... as far as kick starter co. if it looks great and has a known dev behind it. heck yea.
