Standards for Video Editing

You guys talk about gaming all the time, and show us the video editing rigs and say that they are fast, but never any real tests to show how fast they are, which is better for Adobe, which is better for Vegas, AMD or Intel, AMD or Nvidia?

They did a video like this where they compared Logan's and Pistol's rigs and wanted to show real world task performance so rendered out a video on each to compare. They haven't done a thorough evaluation of all the combinations I don't think, probably because it would be a pretty big undertaking :)

Logan's Intel rig ended up being faster and more expensive. Go figure.

I wish adobe premiere pro would use the GPU to encode video along with the CPU.

From my experience, adobe seems to prefer nvidia especially for video editing, and it helps while editing, but the process that needs it the most, is CPU only (exporting media)

Hopefully one day, they will enable GPU accelerated export.

For now their software is Nvidia slanted because they had a supply deal going on for several years, dating as far back as the CS2/3 days if memory serves. While they are moving towards OpenCL bare in mind this is Adobe and any changes they make will be horribly slow.
