Stand alone video capture. Help please

I video DJ and I'very been looking for years for something to record my video. Something like a game capture where it records the hdmi into a box, no computer needed. The main reason I can't use those is because of the hdmi protection.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I got an external mixer, but I just need something hat will record the hdmi signal that's coming out of my computer.  Heck I'll even settle for VGA. I'm looking for something that doesn't require a computer. Thanks again.

Unfortunately that one still requires a PC to record to.

BUT THIS GUY appears to record to a usb 2.0 or 3.0 thumb drive or external hard drive. It supports both HDMI and component video, encodes as h.264 at up to 1080P30, and can also be connected to your PC.

EDIT: Looking around, it appears this device hasn't been released yet, or is just rolling out at least. It will be available from GameStop 11/22 and Newegg 12/1, so the wait won't be too bad.
