Is it ok to stack two external hard drives one on top of the other? I want to save space on my desk.
The drives are always hooked into my computer and are used for media streaming and Time Machine backups.
How do you guys have yours set up? I can't use internal ones as these are for a laptop.
I don't see why it would be a problem...
I stack my naked 2.5" hdds when im backing up every month or so... they have no case or anything, and they are still working perfectly fine. They get chucked around quite a lot come to mention it... and they are still going strong.
I also did some searching and apparently there's no problem stacking hdd's on top of each other.
edit: Also if you are worried about something happening to them... just get a dual bay enclosure; so you can have the two hdd's in the one box.
thanks. i think i'll go ahead and stack them. i have the data backup periodically anyway.
