SSD Woes

Hello...

I purchased a Kingston HyperX 3K 120Gb SSD and I am using it in a Gigabyte 990FXA - UD3H Motherboard.

I am aware that all 6 SATA ports are 6Gb per second (SATA 3) but my SSD is not performing anywhere near to its advertised specs (555 mb/s read, 510 mb/s write) it is instead working at a whopping speed of 306.5 mb/s read and 181.8 mb/s write...

What should I do??  I am fairly new to the PC building environment (7 months)

I am not 100% sure if the 6 SATA ports are all from the South Bridge or not... from what I gathered by the manual they all are

all responses are greatly appreciated

also if this helps anyone help me my WD Caviar Black 1TB is running at 117 Read 113 Write

A lot of 990FX boards have 4/5 SATA 3 ports running on the AMD-southbridge and they include 1/2 additional SATA 3 ports running on something like a Marvell/Asmedia SATA3 PCI-Express chipset. The last mentioned additional chipsets tend to perform at around the levels you are reporting. Try changing SATA ports and see what happens. See if you're within 10% of the advertised speeds.
