I remember a few months ago Logan talking about doing some test on the kingston ssd v300 bait and switch debate about the new firmware and nand being crap. Did this ever happen and did I miss it? Or did it get swept under the rug?
I actually had one of those on order when They mentioned it on the show and I canceled my order after all the backlash they were receiving.
Just curious what ever came of this.
I have a old 60gb SSD v300 (well i actualy have 3 of them one in my craptop one in my gameing pc and one in my junk pc) thay all bench 450mb/s + r/w the new ones are about 60% slower benching 120 to 250mb/s a pure bate and swich from kingston tbh
right, there are tons of reports with similar results, I just wonder if Logan and crew came to the same conclusion or might have they been asked to not move forward with testing as Kingston sponsored them at ces.
Yes, @Logan mentioned it a recent video (The Tek I think). He said he talked to Kingston and they confirmed that they had changed the controller and that they were aware that it was much slower, but they tried to justify it because it was cheap. So yeah, don't buy that product.
it was pretty enticing during the holidays they were going for dirt cheap, I Just wish Kingston would have been more forthcoming about it and not try to sell it under the same name and specs as previous versions. It will make me think twice before buying a Kingston product
Yeah, I bought one myself for my laptop, because of the good price, luckily I got one with the good controller. I bought in Nov 2013 though.
