Hi this is my first post and i wanted to see if anyone could help me. Would a ssd (because i have a really crap computer) or a better graphics card boost my performance the most?

Depends on what you mean by boost in performance... An ssd will boost your performance in load/transfering, anything related to data. The gpu will do better in games and maybe a few other software. What performance gain are you looking for?
Overall computer speediness would be boosted with an SSD, because If you have an old computer then your Hard Drive is probably insanely slow.
A graphics card would just improve the quality of-- well-- graphics when you game. (Also a SSD speeds up game load times If you have the game installed on it)
If you can post your computer specifications then I can tell / suggest to you where the best place to improve would be in order to see a total increase in performance.
