I have two 850 EVO's, one M.2 250GB and one 500GB 2.5"
I have had no problems with either so I am partial to samsung
I cannot speak for Crucial, I'm sure someone else could
Yeah for real the 850 EVO is nice as hell, and Samsung's Magician software really is magic.
I second this
lol i actually have the 500gb 850 evo in my rig i was more or less wondering how it compared to the crucial
I have used a couple Crucial SSDs, but not that specific model. Performance seemed comparable to the Samsung i have now, but one kept disappearing from the UEFI and screwing up boot order. Probably could have fixed that with a UEFI or firmware update though. Samsung seems more solid/reliable overall, but for double the capacity I would take the Crucial. The glitch is surely fixed by now.
Crucial is a part of Micron so its a Micron SSD made using Micron NAND flash and a Micron controller with Micron software on said controller. I don't have any experience with Samsung SSDs but Crucial has never let me down.

Do your girlfriend a favor and spend an extra $10 for the 250GB EVO http://www.microcenter.com/product/442386/850_EVO_Series_250GB_SATA_III_6Gb-s_25_Internal_SSD_Single_Unit_Version_MZ-75E250B-AM
Well see if they have a Mushkin ECO3 240gb drive, probably the best drive for the money currently, or maybe you live near a warehouse and can just pick one up there
Also it's only $60, so you might just wanna buy it anyways

i started out with a 150 for my first setup. it was nice. but if you want to run games at least get a 250. i usually put one or two games on it.
my current set up uses a 250 ssd and 250 pcie for all my programs
i ended up buying the 250gb 850 evo
