SSD Discount

I've found a pretty sweet deal on Amazon: Samsung 850 Evo 500GB for 130€. It's 26 cents per gigabyte. Do you think I should pic it up? I was thinking about buying an SSD for my notebook and I think this is my chance, I think.
I think the Samsung SSDs now are better than any other because of the more reliable 3D NAND. It's just a marketing gimmick or something to consider?
Thanks for all the answers.

I just saw it, damn I'm so tempted....

Damn, I just looked it up. £119.
That's under 24p/GB.

And to think the 240GB SSD in my system cost me £235.

Also, if you don't currently have an SSD in your laptop, go for it. IMHO SSDs are the biggest upgrade possible to laptops.

go for it. might be a flop, and be a crummy ssd, but still better than a hard drive.

I don't have it, will be an upgrade I've been thinking to do for quite a while but I've never saw a better option than this.

I don't think I have either. If I was still on HDD storage, I'd get it.

The 850 EVO is a solid product, and that's a good discount, so I wouldn't hesitate.

I've found the Pro line to be even better, but the EVOs will be just fine for home use, and at that price, I wouldn't think twice. The previous-gen 840 EVO had some issues, but Samsung eventually came through with a patch, which is reassuring. Still, SSD prices are always falling, so I wouldn't feel any particular pressure to jump on this deal. There are great deals on SSDs nearly every day, and it was just a couple of years ago when high-capacity drives were selling for four times that cost per gig.

As I understand it, vertically stacked NAND is not inherently more reliable than traditional planar chips. The benefits it does confer are space and manufacturing cost savings, translating into higher densities and lower prices for the consumer, in addition to some performance gains. As far as the 850 EVO is concerned, however, many of the planar drives on the market already saturate the SATA bus, so any theoretical performance gains won't mean much in real-world use.
