I'm having a bit of trouble deciding upon what I should get in terms of SSDs.
I'm looking for a fairly affordable 256 [roughly] GB SSD to replace the hard drive on my laptop. I'm looking towards ADATA since there's a sale at Newegg at the moment:
ADATA Premier Pro SP900 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211603
ADATA XPG SX900 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211597
There are two options: one's $50 cheaper, but the other has a few more features. Both seem relatively the same. Do the extra features justify the additional $50 or should I grab the cheaper option?
OR if you think both aren't worth it, what do you guys suggest I should get?
Thanks in advance!
I dont see a justification for the more expensive one. They have the same specs. Newegg tends to cut some text from the features to try and sell the more expensive crap.
IMO: Cheaper one.
That's what I was thinking, but I didn't know for sure if I was really missing out on something. Thanks!
The SX900 is going to be faster because it has better NAND flash memory. Every SATA 3 SSD on the market right now claims to have relatively the same speeds, but it's all a marketing gimmick. The more expensive ones tend to be built with better quality memory, and actually end up performing faster in benchmarks. You'll never see the full speed that's listed on the spec sheet in a benchmark though. The read speeds will usually be pretty close, but the write speeds are almost guaranteed to be only half of the speed advertised.
Huh. Yeah, I figured it was built with newer/better tech, but I wasn't sure if dropping another $50 was worth it. I kind of want to get the newer one because of what it is, but I'm thinking of settling with the chearper SSD since I'm on a budget.
