I quite enjoyed today’s race. Good to see him having a good run after the crap luck he’s had all year. 7 DNF results and it’s my interpretation that only one of those is his fault.
Yeah he had allot of bad luck, and kinda lost trust in the car.
But this win is great for him, he´s very talented.
Christ, he’s 20 years old. He’s gonna be a world beater if his team keeps up with proper vehicle design.
Yeah or he might get offers from bigger teams.
I think that he allready has more talent then his father had.
What a great few days these will turn out to be for fans of Wisconsin football.
Spoiler is in place for those that have not yet seen the 2017 Orange Bowl featuring Wisconsin vs University Miami.
After yesterday’s slow start in the Orange Bowl against the University of Miami, Wisconsin QB Alex Hornibrook and WR Danny Davis led Wisconsin to its 4th straight bowl win. Hornibrook threw 4TD’s - 3 to Danny Davis - no INT’s and a total of 258 yards in that game and that performance was good enough to earn him MVP status of the Orange Bowl.
And true freshman running-back Johnathon Taylor broke the NCAA record for freshman rushing yards in a single season in this game and in doing so pushed Adrian Peterson down to second on the list.

In Taylor’s freshman season he:
-
averaged 6.8 yards per carry
-
scored at least one rushing touchdown in his first seven games
-
ran for at least 200 yards in 3 games
-
ran for at least 100 yards in 10 of his 14 games
In this game there was also some controversy, on both sides of the ball, however the University of Miami had the best one to write home about, as their head coach flirted with ejection. Towards the end of the second quarter, University of Miami head coach Mark Richt, was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for arguing with an official. After the flag was flown, he then went on to grab the official that threw the flag. Many said that he should have been ejected from the game, as he should have received a second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for touching the official.
You can watch highlights of this game at youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fMmCODwnD8
The Mark Richt incident happens at 2:53. Altough a better video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRaV_8NuDzw
Mark Richt also talks about the incident in his press conference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QW0WxNb6vqU
Mark had every right to be mad. As it was pretty obvious that one of the Wisconsin O-lineman got away with a holding call.

And in NFL related news, after what seems like an eternity, it is said that Dom Capers will be coaching his last game for the Packers. It is also rumored that Vic Fangio, the current Bears defensive coordinator, will be Capers replacement. Packers fans have every reason to rejoice as under Capers there have been some serious miscues.
During his time with the Packers, their points allowed per game ranking went from inside the top 10 in his first 2 years :
- 7th in 2009
- 2nd in 2010
to falling into mediocrity a short while after.:
- 19th in 2011
- 11th in 2012
- 24th in 2013
- 13th in 2014
- 12th in 2015
- 21st in 2016
He was however able to temporarily right the ship in the 2012 season but fell backwards in the 2013 season. In 2014 he righted the ship once again and this time was able to keep up that success in the 2015 season, only to once again suffer set backs the next season. During most of his time with the Packers, defensively, they were always the laughing stock of the league . I am sure we all remember the blown Packers v Seattle NFC Championship game in 2015… And the Packers v Cardinals NFL Divisional game in 2016, that went to OT. Of course in that game, at the beginning of overtime Larry Fitz, went on a monster run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuWuovcDYXo and went on to score on the very next play.
In the world of soccer, the northern hemisphere season transfer window opens up on the 1st of January.

Am I the only person on the entire earth who doesn’t find the NFL catch rule confusing at all? It’s pretty straightforward to me, but every game I’ve watched the past 2 or 3 weeks, the commentators spend half their commentary time after after pass attempt berating the officials and claiming that the rule is somehow ambiguous. To me, all of this season’s “controversial calls” have been pretty clear in terms of what has happened and why it is or isn’t a catch.
First, it’s an easy rule for anybody who knows how to read and has watched some football in their life. And second, why on earth are these commentators criticizing the game that pays their bills? They’re causing their viewers to become disenchanted with the game. It’s like a person who operates a bakery chatting with the customers and telling people not to eat bread or sweets because of the carbs. It’s absurd.
I made this spreadsheet during a discussion with friends yesterday regarding responsible transfer spending. It looks at the top 9 teams in the Premier League and then 9 other teams we though would be interesting to look at, and the with data from Transfermarkt I compiled their yearly transfer deficits/profits since the 2010/11 season, as well as the total since then.
I got some interesting takeaways from it. Primarily that Man City runs the largest deficit of any CL competitive team in Europe. Also that Monaco, despite selling off all these youthful stars for huge profit, dug themselves a huge hole a few years ago. Tottenham was the only current PL top 9 team to run a profit from transfers, and FC Porto is making a killing on the market. Anyway, I thought it was neat to see.
The long suffering Cleveland Browns fans held a protest parade after a 0 win season, last year they won once and owning the dubious distinction of holding the record for never making the playoffs. It was good matured fun and games and most people had a cathartic good time.
Not the players though. They were pissed.
The surprising thing is Man City. According to ESPN in 2016 Man City earned a profit for a second year in a row: http://www.espn.com/soccer/manchester-city/story/2974996/manchester-city-announce-profit-for-second-straight-year-amid-record-revenue
And they made it a third year straight last year: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/nov/08/manchester-city-record-revenues-accounts-wages-2016-17.
I knew the sports world paid well, but I did not know this well.
It’s good to see that they can have some fun.
Go Eagles!
I’m watching some of the 24 Hours at Daytona race right now, and the coolest part about this is seeing the brake discs on all four corners of these P class cars glow red as they brake into chicane on the straightaway and the first corner at the end of the oval. Super cool to watch this night-time racing.
Any of the Prototype cars look absolutely amazing.
The DeltaWing was one of the cooler looking ones.
One can be yours for the cheap price of $375k.
Looks like Beckham’s Miami FC is officially going to be a thing
Nooooo.
I remember Audi at some fun with this in the WEC at Le Mans. They had their drivers be the grid girls. I’ll have to find the post.
Honestly thought people would have posted about the Super Bowl here. Ya’ll broke my heart.
Anyway the Eagles beat the Patriots 41 to 33 giving them their first Super Bowl win and it was only in their 3rd Super Bowl appearance.
The game was an action packed one, with trick plays done by both teams, missed kicks, and even a hail marry attempt. The best trick play would have to be the 4th and 1 Nick Foles receiving touchdown catch right before the end of the first half.

Several records were also broken in this game:
- The Patriots and Eagles combined for the most total yards in any game in NFL history with 1,151 yards.
- Tom Brady also beat two records, one he already held which was most passing yards in a Super Bowl, he threw for 505 yards - 39 yards more then his previous record. Brady also becomes the first quarterback to throw for more then 10,000 yards in postseason games.
- The Patriots also have the record for having the most points scored with out winning the Super Bowl with 33.
Eagles QB Nick Foles was awarded the Super Bowl MVP trophy for his performance.
Nick Foles Stats:
28/43 Catches/Attempts 373 Yards 3 TD’s 1 Int 1 Receiving Touchdown
