Crash Instances
Description
Usually with my old Intel Z590I+11900K setup, I’m able to isolate a cause pretty easily, IRQ 16 storms, misbehaving drivers which can be disabled using GRUB (using TrueNAS’s bespoke utilities for it), XMP being enabled and I could usually resolve it but since that pair is now on hackintosh duty, this is B550I+1800X pair is what I have for my server.
No two crashes seem to be similar and they seem to be happen sporadically (sometimes between 30 minutes, sometimes between days), with the only indication that it even crashed being that I cannot access my SMB shares (no automatic shutdown, no log persistence, nothing).
I have unsuccessfully tried to pair two Serial-over-USB converters to have kernel log information piped to my machine directly (right now my method of seeing what’s happening is to use the aforementioned NVIDIA card’s HDMI output and passing it through a capture card into OBS) so I’m not sure how I can even extract more information.
RAM is at bog standard 2666MHz and the BIOS on the mobo doesn’t support TDP based throttling to the best of my knowledge so I’m not sure where to go from here.
