Specific Desk Chair Needs

I think this is "other" hardware. If not, point me toward the correct place.

Anyway, I've got a bit of a strange issue. To understand, you'll need three important bits of context.

  • I suffer from fairly severe chronic muscle spasms that give me problems on a daily basis.
  • I spend my working day at my desk, as well as recreation (gaming, netflix, crunchyroll). This adds up to 9-12 hours a day at my desk.
  • I'm 6'1" and not overweight.

I realize that the first two points in combination bring up some correlation v. cause issues. Let them be, please, I know what causes the spasms. It's genetics, sadly, and bad luck.

On to the problem you needed that context to understand. I have a ~$100 desk chair from Wal-Mart. Objectively, it's quite nice and solid. However, it doesn't fit my needs.

I need to find a replacement that fits certain particulars, and a budget, and I am hoping you guys can point me in the correct direction without me running down the particulars myself.

  • Lumbar support (preferably structural)
  • Chair back extends enough to support my head beyond the next item
  • Neck support (again, preferably structural)
  • Large enough to support my tallness without a problem
  • Not built for someone who's heavy, if possible, I don't want to drown in it like I do in the "For Big & Tall" type one I do have
  • Costs less than $500. Preferably less than $350.
  • Not going to collapse after a mere year of use.

I don't care about leather, brand name, racing/gaming styling, ability to recline to insane angles, or whether it works well with simulator setups.

So, anyone able to help?

You and me are in the same boat my friend, the same, small, small boat... Ive not purchased any of the three listed but I know people who used the last two and they have told me the height is great for the not so big but tall crowd. I hope you get a decent chair as I understand the pain an improper seat instills.

Thank you! I had given up on an answer. Now I just need to ask the Doc to advocate for it to the insurance company.

Well best of luck to you man
