Speaker help!

Ok so I want to buy these speakers

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SS-B3000-Bookshelf-Speakers-Black/dp/B000OG6I6A/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t

To put in my room for music mostly. I would use my ipod to select the music.

Im pretty sure they are bare wire.

Other than that info im a giant noob and need to know what else i need (amp or reciver?) to make this thing work. I would not want to go over 120 dollars including the speakers

You would need a receiver to connect them to, if you don't have that you obviously can't get speakers for 110$ and stay within 120$...

I'm not sure what you're trying to do, are you expecting to just connect your iPod to the speakers and listen? If so these are completely the wrong kind.

I'm pretty sure those are passive speakers. You should be looking at active speakers if you're planning on staying anywhere near that budget.

How about the M-Audio AV40?

You could connect them via RCA cable to your iPod/DAC/Computer. They're usually around $140, but you could probably find them cheaper.

If you can't afford those, the AV30 are available for under $100.

I found speakers from my attic that my dad bought about 25 years ago. Could a reciever make these speakers work because the end of the speakers are bare wire please reply soon because I want to order today afternoon. Would these speskers still sound good?

Yeah they would work with a receiver, not sure about the sound quality though. You're gonna have to find out on your own. :P

Bare wire doesn't matter it's just + and - like all speakers, it's just that most modern speakers have sockets that follow a standard (RCA as an example). Same thing is fed through the connections though. Just like with all plugs and sockets.
