Hi guys i have this I3 i was going to use to make a system that was given to me by best mate after his little hewlett Packard he had. crummy little thing it was but it had that nice little I3 in it and he knew i liked having computer bits.
so al i wanna know is
1. is it worth me getting a second hand mobo with this socket, that can take a enthusiast level gfx card (my 6850) as i do not play super demanding games.
2. what would be a good reasonable one for about around £30 to £50 maybe a little more depending really
and finally is there anyone on here who would actually like to sell one that they have laying around after an upgrade or something ? anything is better than the motherboard i bought that cannot even take an FX6300 like it said it can and cost me near £60. or if anyone has an am3+ one that takes FX id be happy to talk to you about buying it.
only in the UK or the EU. the postage from the us in nuts some guy offered me but when he said he will pay the $120 dollars postage i said not to bother it costs him too much XD
can't wait to hear from y'all, you lot here are awesome.
You can use 1156 processors on an 1155 motherboard. Plenty of affordable options that are suitable for the older i3. Any chipset with a PCIe slot will be suitable for gaming. Many of the cheaper options do not have heatsinks, and that is something to consider.
I think its worth utilising the i3. Its gaming capable, always handy to have a spare computer. For the price of a motherboard, you would be silly not to utilise it.
There's a cheap Z77 1155 motherboard for £60 would would allow you to have some upgrade paths:
