hey guys just looking for a soundcard that is compatible with linux. i usually use the onboard but after adding a radeon card the onboard stopped working so i have just been using the hdmi audio with my headphones plugged into the monitor. this was fine however the new monitor the audio is horrible for some reason.
tried a multitude of things to get the onboard working again but still no good so my next thing is a dedicated sound card.
i use headphones 99% of the time so it doesn’t have to be overly powerful.
I would suggest getting a USB DAC like the Fulla from Schiit Audio. I believe the ASUS Sound cards, like Xonar H6, should work. personally I would go with the Fulla. Here is a link to both Fulla, Xonar H6. There also other options Mayflower Electronics if you want a dac.
I would say a USB DAC too. For a plethora of reasons but the primary one is that many of them does not require drivers. So it doesn't matter what OS you hook them into. I hear good things about Mayflower punching above its weight class.
