The Problem(s):
A couple of weeks ago I built a new computer, but now I’m having sound issues. Every once in a while a get a crackling/popping noise (imagine old records) and sometimes (although much rarer) there is some sound distortion (wrong pitch). Another thing is, when I shut down my PC from Windows 10, the OS turns off correctly, but the PC still runs for another 10 seconds while Dr. Debug Displays the Code 04.
Relevant specs:
MB: ASrock Z370 Taichi
CPU: Intel 8700K at stock for now
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 3200 CL16 16GB
PSU: Seasonic 550W FOCUS 80+ platinum
GPU: MSI GTX 1070 Ti Gaming
SOUND: Sennheiser PC360 G4ME
Things I’ve ruled out:
Headset problems, my ears (lol), Chrome, I/O problem, driver latency issue, RAM position, GPU position, the power outlet
Things I’ve already tried:
Changing the default sample rate from 24bit 44.1khz to every other option.
I uninstalled my Realtek driver (with and without DDU) and installed several different versions.
I uninstalled my NVIDIA driver (with DDU) and installed a newer version of it.
I tried using the driver Windows automatically installs.
I told Windows not to automatically update the drivers.
I took the computer apart and tried to re-seated the motherboard.
I tried resetting the CMOS and updating the BIOS.
This leads me to conclude that it’s either some sort of motherboard defect (maybe interference), or some problem with my OS (drivers or something). I want to rule out any software issues before I RMA the board.
Any help would be very appreciated!
