So I'm looking for a 7.1 sound card, and it would really be awsome to find a good one for under $150.

Can you add $10 to your budget? You can't have a good sound card under $150. This and this for example.

Yeah its not a really strict budget I was just trying to save.
So would you suggest the Creative card or the HTOmega. I've always used onboard sound and I have no idea what to look for.
The Creative sound card generally recieved positive reviews when it comes to performance, so I'd give that a try.

i have onboard 5.1... right now i have a 5.1 headset, but im thinking of going to speakers, does a sound card rely sound that much better????
Well if you're an OC addict, you'll find out that CPU performance is strictly a must. Same goes to extreme audiophiles. However, if you just want casual sound (like you don't really matter on CPU load intensity) then onboard would go fine unless you have the shittiest onboard controller like mine.
