Sorta new to building PC's, advice and guidance needed

Ok, so I'm not that knowledgable when it comes to CPU's and motherboards and whatnot. I have read up a bit but all these numbers hurt my tinkerbox. Also me being me, I'm paranoid I'll somehow buy some things that are incompatible with one another (if that's possible).

I'm looking for a build that would be good for gaming, and possibly some video editting in the future. I have around $1200 to spend.

I do have extra HDD's to slot in, so I'll probably just get an SSD. No need to buy a mouse, keyboard, monitor (although dual monitors could be nice maybe?), optical drive or soundcard (if I even needed one).

Also, as a side note, I have had my eyes on that amazing NZXT HAVIK 140 that Logan recently reviewed and DO WANT!

Here's my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ssR5

EDIT: Rebuilt - http://pcpartpicker.com/au/p/szxH

(I chose the i5 3570k over the i7-3770k, because it's $100 cheaper, but is the i7 worth it?)

I live in Australia, so prices are a bit higher here. I rebuilt it on PCCaseGear.com, and (with the fan from another website), the total is $1300. Anyone able to recommend a place to cut down on? Preferably something I can easily upgrade later ( so that's pretty much the RAM and storage right?).

ps. Is it better to buy before or after Christmas? The way my finances are at the moment, it seems like this is going to be an after-christmas build, but who knows...

The i5 is more than enough for gaming and some video editing; however, if you desire to edit very large files, it wouldn't be a bad idea to choose the i7. You are missing the MOBO. For that pricepoint, I would recommend a GA-Z77X-UD3H from Gigabyte. Based on Amazon pricing, this would make the cost $1111. With that leftover money, I would add an extra stick of ram to make it 16 gigs and some high quality fans like Corsair's AF120s, Noctua fans or some Typhoons. Aside from that, really really solid build for only $1200.

make sure you get a PSU thats 80plus seasonice corsair Rosewill theirs more i can't think of ATM

Disregard the extra ram and fans. I realized you are also missing a power supply. So with those $89 buy a TX650w PSU from Corsair. Fits perfectly.

Don't forget your OS. There is another $100.00.

I recommend a z77 chipset motherboard apart from that choice just get a 80 plus psu and unless your going to be doing major editing the i5 is plenty enouph for gaming

LOL, I was so tired making that list that I forgot the mobo and the PSU...I just thought of the mobo when I was falling asleep, but completely forgot the PSU :P

Anyway, thanks for the recommendations :D So excited now for when I get to ordering the bits
