This just makes me wanna go offline ha
Welcome to reality. It hits hard but it is real!
I'm not even going to tell my father about number one. He has a pacemaker and this will drive him crazy.
Probably what happened to Michael Hastings. Hack his car, accelerator gets floored, bomb goes off, blows engine out of car. Then it gets chalked up to reckless driving.
i don't even get how you could "hack" a pacemaker
My father's pacemaker is monitored and regulated by a separate machine in the house. The machine runs on wifi. The machine that regulates the pacemaker can be hacked like any computer or phone.
If Alfred Hitchcock were still alive he would have a movie where a family gets a phone call. They are told to send an exorbitant fee through Western Union or they will stop the Father's heart. They can't go to the police because Russia won't extradite anyone. So, the entire movie is about the family trying to desperately raise money to pay their extortionist. They get the money and pay the fee. The twist ending would be that the audience would learn that the pacemaker wasn't hacked at all.
I miss Alfred Hitchcock..lol
Pacemakers commonly come with two wireless interfaces, usually a short and longer ranger transmitor and receiver. It allows doctors to get data from them to check your alright, and they allow for tweaks to how it runs etc.
The issue is these are made by companies whos goal is profit, they make them speced on the minimum standard they are required to follow for medical devices, not necessarily maliciously but not to the standard that they should, what do you know about software safety standards for medical devices? Its practically never looked at, its self regulated, theres no actual standards. That means there's holes, its common, software has bugs.
You will never be allowed to see the source code in a pace maker, you'll never know what its doing to your body, thats the issue i have.
However, back to hacking it. Its simple, break the wireless interface and alter the parameters it runs or modify the firmware with malicious firmware. RF is easy to break because its never implemented properly, you have to hope they are implemented the code and security properly. Hahahaha, security.. on them.. Good luck.
I wonder why Dick Cheney had the wireless disabled on his pacemaker? https://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2013/10/22/doctors-disabled-wireless-in-dick-cheneys-pacemaker-to-thwart-hacking/
You should all see this
I used to have hacker friends back in 2000s. They told me airplanes and other vehicles can see your CRT/LCD screen by some wave and capture your screen. I was like w/e you really important if a plane is flying overhead just to spy on your monitor. Then back in 2008, there was a show where a cop shows how they can scan your LCD screen from a block away, lol.
Fucking top ten lists. Youtube poop of the mid 10s.
