So google alerted me about someone trying to break into my gmail account and they gave me where they are from and their ip. I googled it and came up with this website https://ipdb.at/ip/60.166.236.198. it looks like they are in a hotel. I pinged it and it looks like it is still active. I'm not sure if they could be just using one of the permanet computers there as a proxy. I'm just wondering what can i do about it.
China (And North korea) use IP's in an unusial way. Sometimes streets and whole suberbs use the same ip to reduse the small number of IP's available. I would contact google about it. I had a similar problem with my hotmail account, Ending up with my hotmail account disabled on a hourly bases. Lasted a few months. Its the only thing you can do. Contact google.
thanks for the help everyone. I did a little more research and it looks like a lot of other people are having this same thing from the same part in china along with a website dealing with it too. people are thinking its most likely a small botnet managed buy someone just trying brute force in to accounts.
Oh it's just a chinese 11-year old doing his homework for school. His assignment was "hack a decadent westerner's pc".
We put hackers in jail and try to keep our kids away from learning too much about networks, they don't have laws against hacking foreign computers and will rule the world in 5 years. Or do you really think your bitcoins are safe?
Hacking and piracy in China is just a free way to acquire stuff, it's not immoral, not illegal, it's seen as stupid not to do it. Which makes piracy and hacking laws in the West even more medieval than burning witches at the stake in the 17th century. Piracy and hacking laws are just voluntary mass debilisation imposed upon the western citizens by politicians that are so stupid that it's a miracle they can read and write A4-sized papers, because they obviously can't see the huge sign on the wall in front of their eyes...
