Some experiance around with MSI X99 and Linux

Has someone installed a linux os on his MSI x99 mobo?
Are the issues with something like network or usb3/3.1?

Want to upgrade and the MSI would fit nicely in my budged :)

I have an Asrock x99 WS as long as it doesn't have a broadcomm NIC or some off the wall sound chip you should be fine. USB 3.0 works fine. 3.1 that I am not totally sure about but it does follow the same standards as 3.0 so it shouldn't be an issue.

Even if it doesn't work it is just a kernel update away.

The MSI uses Intel NICs and Realtek Audio mostly as i have seen.

Hmmm the Kernel 4.x is around the corner ... and atm i dont have
anything with 3.1 ... :)

Well my bord has the same stuff so you should be fine just remember to turn off secure boot or set up a UEFI bootloader.

according to this, i assume you are looking at the Msi X99A Sli plus or Mpower.
i dont expect any major compatibility issues with Linux basicly.

Ah yes one of these 2 ... or may i take an Asrock x99x killer ... they have all the Intel NICs

Thats cool that there should be no real issues.
