Currently i plan on getting a better gpu for my gaming rig ( link to my current rig http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rdt7qs ) the 750ti i have now has served me well but i want to play bigger better games like Batman Arkum knight on high and ultra settings. I DONT MIND OVERCLOCKING A CHEAPER GPU TO SAVE MONEY. Some suggestions on what to buy would help out a lot :)
A used R9 290 can be had for cheap, and even new R9 280x's with really nice coolers go for around 200 bucks last time I checked. Either one of those should be a very solid upgrade without breaking the bank, going for a new "low-end" card like a 950 doesn't make too much sense IMO.
950 or 960 is an upgrade.
you might want to wait till next year when you can get an amd r7 460 or nvidia Pascal series cards with HBM. that said

^this could most likely do what you want.
Which is better R9 290 or the 960? Plus what is HBM?
GTX960 or R9-380 could be good choices for 1080p gaming.
But it depends on your budget ofc.
R9-290 would be even better if you could find one for a good price.
Thx, so the R9 is the best choice if i can find it for cheep?
Yeah the 290 will stomp a 960 any day.
yeah well depends a bit on your budget.
The 290 will basicly blow the GTX960 and R9-380 out of the water.
Even if the 290 is basicly a previous gen card.
The Hawai pro chip used in the 290, is basicly the same chip which is used in the Current R9-390.
HBM is a new memory technology currently found on some AMD cards, you don't have to worry about it since it won't affect the pricepoint at which you're shopping.
Yes, an R9 290 beats a gtx 960 across the board by a considerable margin, there's no doubt about that. If you can find an R9 290 within your budget (or possibly a cheaper used one) it's probably one of the best price/performance cards you can get right now. Just make sure to buy one with an aftermarket cooler (the ones with 2 or 3 large fans visible on the card) if you value a quiet and cool-running PC.
Thx guys for explaining everything i know what to get now 👌👌👌👌👌
HBM is only availeble on the Fiji based AMD cards by the way.
The 200 and 300 series AMD cards still feuture GDDR5 memory.
Radeon HD 7970 (R9 280X)
Radeon HD 7950 (R9 280)
Radeon HD 7870 (R9 270X)
Radeon HD 7870 XT
GTX 670
GTX 760
GTX 660 Ti
GTX 580
All of those can be had for $150 or less on eBay, and will beat the GTX 750 Ti across the board. None will match the power efficiency, of course.
