I've just started up my new PC and my SSD's there but not my WD HDD. Is there some software I need to download or have I got a dud drive?
On windows 7, Check Disk Management which is built in, or diskpart if you need to get down and are fine with the command line. See if it sees anything, reports any problem, or if it just needs to be formatted.
If that doesn't work, load up a linux liveUSB with Gparted on it (several distros come with it, Ubuntu is common) and see if it can find anything and help you format it or assess a problem.
Key too is to, with power off, check your connections. Make sure power and SATA (or whatever) is connected properly, firmly on both ends, and if that doesn't work, make sure the power and connector used work with something else.
Just figured it out - the bloody thing hadn't allocated it to NTFS storage. Thanks very much, mate :D
That'll do it. Glad it all worked out.
