Problem:

I have a secondary monitor that do not get any signal (black screen and power is on). I tried to switch between inputs. Powering off all devices from the KVM to the secondary monitor and then turn on. Restarting the desktop to see if I can get a signal.

I have a Laptop that is also connected to the KVM. It is also unable to get a signal through to the secondary monitor, but does work with the Primary Monitor.

The primary monitor (SAMSUNG 32” Odyssey G7 Series WQHD - LC32G75TQSNXZA) works fine with regard to getting a signal via the KVM but does have a small stutter where the picture will freeze a bit and then suddenly catch up. It would be nice to have the stutter fixed, if possible at all. However, this issue is of lower priority at the moment.

The secondary monitor ( AOC C24G1 24" - C24G1) is where the bigger issues is at the moment. It displays a light to indicate that it is on, but when I try to get the signal to show up by toggling on and off. Changing inputs. ETC. It just keeps acting like there is no signal.

Other Notes:

The secondary monitor is connected to a device between the KVM and the secondary monitor itself. The device is called an Audio Radar. It is a cool device that takes in audio input (via HDMI) and passes along signals to light bars to display the sounds visibly.

If needed, I can make a diagram showing how everything is connected.

can you take a pic of the back of the kvm how you have it cabled?

Here are the screenshots.

so two things. you cannot convert dp to HDMI and back to dp on the signal chain. is that happening here?

not all HDMI to dp adapters are reversible either. have you tried it without the HDMI thing?

This is what I use to convert the DisplayPort to HDMI.

I am going to do two different tests. One without the Audio Radar but with the converter cable. A second test without both devices.

The second test worked.

Looks like I may have to refund the converter cable. Do you have an alternative?

I realized I didn’t answer your question. There is only one DP to HDMI conversion happening. @wendell

I will draw something up to help you visualize the connections.

KVM and Audio Radar with two monitors

Ideally, I want to connect the Audio Radar with the KVM’s output to output lights based on audio from whatever is currently active (Laptop/Desktop).

Does that help unpack what I am trying to do here?

Something I noticed,

Your DisplayPort → HDMI adapter is limited to 1080P@120Hz according to the device description, but the monitor page say it is 1080p@144Hz.

This very well might be a bandwidth/signal integrity issue.

What DisplayPort / HDMI cables are you using in the chain for the 2nd monitor?

The original DisplayPort to HDMI cable was this one that I linked to earlier. I have started the refund process already.

I ordered a different one. It should come in later today, and I can test it. I think 4k at 60 FPS far exceeds what the secondary monitor spec is capable of.

4k 60Hz is DisplayPort 1.2 / HDMI 2.0, so yes you should be good.

You can check compatibility here:

The new 4k 60Hz adapter works flawlessly. I no longer need any help now.
